HEALTH TIPS

E-Prescribing Benefits All PIH Primary Care Patients

Calling your pharmacy direct makes getting routine prescriptions refilled easier, faster and more efficient for all Partners in Health primary care patients, thanks to an e-prescribing system connecting PIH and pharmacies.  Some patients have been using the system for several months.

Effective November 1, 2011, all patients of physicians in our Primary Care Division (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Medicine) are to call their pharmacy for refills of routine medications.  The pharmacy will contact PIH electronically for authorization.  This new approach does not apply to all patients of the PIH Women’s Center at this time.  Read more.

Flu Shots Now Available

Partners in Health urges patients and others to prepare for the coming flu season. Patients who have an appointment scheduled in the coming weeks may get their flu shots during the appointment.  Wearing a short sleeve shirt will facilitate the process. For more information, click here.

Don't Shortchange Your Health Care

Watching every expenditure in tough economic times is natural, but don’t put off seeing your doctor when you have a health care issue and continue taking your prescribed medications.  Don't make these mistakes.  Click here.

Dispose of Needles, Syringes Properly

No one would throw a ticking time bomb in the trash.  But some experts say that’s what happens when people do not properly dispose of needles and syringes used for at-home injections.  More than 9 million syringes are used annually for injections outside traditional U.S. healthcare facilities, and far too many wind up in landfills and other places where contamination poses health risks.  PIH now offers patients a safe and easy way to dispose of needles and syringes.  Two container sizes are available – 100 capacity ($9.99) and 300 capacity ($13.99).  Simply return the container to our office when it is full and we’ll be sure it is properly incinerated.

24-Hour Prescription Refill Hotline

Partners in Health is a medical group of seven doctors and a certified nurse midwife practicing in the areas of Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynecology.

The practice is located in downtown Lawrenceburg, Indiana, a beltway community off I-275 at Exit 16 on the west of the tri-state Greater Cincinnati area. The group formed in 1999, though several doctors have been established in the area much longer.

The group practices in its own 30,000 square foot medical complex that opened in 2005 and overlooks the Ohio River and Kentucky hills.  The location and the offices, which sit above a two-story parking garage, offer convenient access to patients.  The state-of-the-art facility allows doctors to do on-site stress tests, echocardiograms, carotid doppler tests, and 4-D ultrasounds.

Doctors describe the group philosophy as “patient first.”  The word partner is less about a group of doctors in a practice and more about how they establish relationships and work with patients.  A nursing and administrative staff of nearly fifty skilled and capable professionals supports our doctors.  Electronic medical recordkeeping and other systems create efficiencies so our doctors can be doctors.

Partners in Health celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 2009.
